Do you have a park, woodland or river near your school? Have you ever thought that you should utilise it more?

Ambles & Rambles can bring you on a guided nature walk in your area and show you and your class things you never knew were there, turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.

From medicinal plants to carnivorous plants, native animals to invasive species, the natural world is full of new and exciting things to learn about...and it’s right on your doorstep.

Just call Adrian on 087 238 2732 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to book your guided nature walk. We will even call to your school before your walk takes place to talk to everyone about what to bring to make the day as fun (and educational!) as possible.

Hiking at night is a totally different experience - once you try it, you’ll be hooked.

Enjoy the spectacular views of the stars, the city lights and the sounds of nature by night while having your supper at the summit of Three Rock Mountain.

Hear and see our native bats, badgers, foxes and deer – depending on the time of year, you may even see deer rutting – an unforgettable experience!

Learn the basics of bushcraft and how to survive in the wilderness. From lighting a fire to sourcing your own food – if you see yourself as a bit of a Bear Grylls or you feel like channelling your inner MacGyver, then this is the day out for you!

Ambles & Rambles also run Easter, Summer and Mid-Term camps for kids aged 10-14 offering a huge range of outdoor activities. Call Adrian on 087 238 2732 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information or to book your place.

You will meet your guide at the Step Inn in Stepaside, a small village at the foothills of the Dublin Mountains, at 10am. Here you can enjoy a home-baked scone and a cup of tea or coffee while your friendly guide talks to you about the walk ahead.

The half-day tour will take in a 2-3 hour walk at a relaxed pace bringing you about half way up the Dublin Mountains. Here you can enjoy the beautiful views of Dubliln City and Dublin Bay, listen to local legends and stories, see some wildlife and maybe even have a little nip of Irish Whiskey!

We will then make our way back to Stepaside through picturesque woodland and pass the historical church and high cross at Kilgobbin. After your walk, you can relax and enjoy a light lunch, some live music and a sing-song!

Watch the sun rise over the Wicklow Mountains and the Irish Sea, enjoy the Dawn Chorus and see our native wildlife that you will only ever see at this special time of the day – all while feasting on a continental breakfast at the Fairy Castle, the highest point on the Dublin Mountains.

You will meet your guide at the Step Inn in Stepaside at 10am. Enjoy a home-baked scone and a cup of tea or coffee before setting off on your hike. Your guide will take you right to the highest point of the Dublin Mountains, the Fairy Castle (a pre-historic cairn or burial site), via Tibradden Mountain and on to the Three Rock Mountain. You can enjoy walking through different terrains such as bogland, forest and open country, have a packed lunch and all the time, enjoy the beautiful views and surroundings.

We will make our way back to Stepaside, descending from the Three Rock Mountain through forest towards Barnacullia, passing the famous Blue Light Pub, a local landmark. We will then continue downhill through picturesque woodland until we reach the historical site of Kilgobbin Church and High Cross before enjoying a well-deserved light dinner, live music and a sing-song!
